Summary: | A system of recording has been designed to facilitate the comparison and quantification of features observed on extremity long bones from archaeological faunal assemblages. The system, which is based on vertical and polar coordinates, generates locationally accurate, repeatable, computerizable and statistically analyzable data. It is currently being employed in the analysis of Bronze Age and Iron Age mammalian material from the Fengate site, England. The following report describes its operation and application to specific zooarchaeological problems. |
