Summary:The direct photolysis of p -iodophenol in benzene and water is studied. The absorption spectra of the complex of atomic iodine with benzene and the p -hydroxyphenyl iodohydroxycyclohexadienyl radical R • are recorded. An absorption spectrum is recorded, and the absolute value of the rate constant of the termination reaction according to the second-order law of the p -iodophenoxyl radical is obtained in experiments on the sensitized photo-oxidation of p -iodophenol.
