Comparison of three techniques for administering radiolabeled substrates to sediments for trophic studies: uptake of label by harpacticoid copepods
The uptake of radioactivity by the harpacticoid copepods Heteropsyllus nunni and Thompsonula hyaenae was compared using 3 methods of radio-active label introduction: injection, pore-water replacement and slurry. For each method of label introduction, 2 dual-label combinations were employed: 3H-thymi...

Summary: | The uptake of radioactivity by the harpacticoid copepods Heteropsyllus nunni and Thompsonula hyaenae was compared using 3 methods of radio-active label introduction: injection, pore-water replacement and slurry. For each method of label introduction, 2 dual-label combinations were employed: 3H-thymidine/14C-bicarbonate and 3H-thymidine/14C-acetate. Results from the injection and pore-water methods were statistically indistinguishable in contrast to those of the slurry method. |
