THE CHANGE OF HEPATIC FUNCTIONS AND COMPLICATIONS AFTER TRANSCATHETER EMBOLIZATION THERAPY FOR HEPATIC TUMORS

Description
Summary:Transcatheter embolization therapy (embolization) was performed with gelfoam powder & MMC 10mg in 8 cases (13 times) with hepatic tumors (2 hepatomas & 6 metastatic hepatic tumors). 1) Liver function after embolization is temporarily worsened. The level of GOT, GPT, alkaline phosphatase and total bilirubin in serum showed the highest value on 1 or 34 days after embolization but returned to pre-embolization value within 1 week. The albumin was the lowest level at 34 days to 1 week and returned to pre-embolization value gradually within 34 weeks. 2) Post-embolization syndrome was controlled very well with analgesics. 3) The degree of change of liver function and post-embolization syndrome depends on the volume of embolized hepatic areas.
