The Heights and Weights of West Indian Children
Some previously reported data on the mean heights and weights of children are re-analysed. They are found to be consistent with the lawlike relationship log w̄ = 0.8h + c, first obtained by Ehrenberg (1968) and later modified by Kpedekpo (1970). Thus Ehrenberg's law is widened to include West I...

Summary: | Some previously reported data on the mean heights and weights of children are re-analysed. They are found to be consistent with the lawlike relationship log w̄ = 0.8h + c, first obtained by Ehrenberg (1968) and later modified by Kpedekpo (1970). Thus Ehrenberg's law is widened to include West Indian children in general and smaller children of Chinese origin in particular. The value of the intercept constant is always 0.4 to one decimal place but appears to be slightly larger for well-nourished than for less well-nourished communities. |
