Description
Summary:The cooling time of a strange quark star is obtained within the framework of a simple cooling model. The possibility of exponentially fast cooling is demonstrated. This allows us to consider cold quark stars as reasonable candidates for the dark matter of the Universe and as a source of hypothetical quasi-nuclei in the cosmic ray flux. •Cooling time of a strange quark star to the background temperature is obtained.•The possibility of fast cooling is demonstrated.•Cold strange quark stars could be candidates for the dark matter of the Universe.•Cold strange quark stars of our Galaxy may be the source of quasi-nuclei.
