Hydrophilic sulfur-containing antioxidant sodium 3-(3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propylthiosulfate as a modulator of the activity of antitumor cytostatics and their combinations with a NO donor

The interaction of a combination of a sulfur-containing phenolic antioxidant sodium 3-(3- tert -butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propylthiosulfate (TS-13) with a nitric oxide donor (NaNO 2 ) and two antitumor cytostatics, cisplatin and doxorubicin, was studied in vivo using a model of P-388 murine leukemia of...

Description
Summary:The interaction of a combination of a sulfur-containing phenolic antioxidant sodium 3-(3- tert -butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propylthiosulfate (TS-13) with a nitric oxide donor (NaNO 2 ) and two antitumor cytostatics, cisplatin and doxorubicin, was studied in vivo using a model of P-388 murine leukemia of BDF 1 mice. It has been shown that the type of cytostatics used determines the efficiency of chemotherapy. Depending on this, the antioxidant TS-13 can both enhance and reduce the antitumor effect. The use of TS-13 and a nitric oxide donor with different cytostatics and different modes of drug administration modulates their activity in different ways, namely, from increasing survival to inhibition of survival.
