Description
Summary:The new approach to cool of Laser Diode Arrays (LDAs) is proposed. A coolant flows in regions between Laser Diode Bars (LDBs) in LDA and directly removes heat from these LDBs. The simulation demonstrated that the output optical power density of about 20 kW/cm 2 in LDA in continuous wave (CW) operation mode can be reached with the proposed approach of cooling. The turbulent flow of coolant has been studied, and the modeling showed that the turbulent regime, providing convective heat exchange in the device, leads to better cooling of the device with higher output characteristics.
