Summary:In order to understand the present perspectives of the radical left in Germany today, five main considerations are needed: a) a non-sectarian idea of the radical left b) a realistic idea of the impact of unification on the Germany left c) a deepened understanding of the European dimension of German politics d) a sufficiently clear idea of the dangers presented by a political turn to the radical right e) a sufficiently clear theoretical basis for understanding the comprehensive dynamics of the present constellation of structures of domination (capitalist, imperial, male supremacist, anti-ecological).
