Summary: | A new approach to the realization of isobaric gas flow from the barrel to the terminal chamber of a ballistic two-stage gas compression setup is considered. The phenomenon of isobaric gas flow has been experimentally observed. Using the proposed method, it is possible to reduce the maximum pressure in the final compression stage at an unchanged energy supplied to the same mass of a working gas, or, for the same limiting gas pressure (e.g., determined by mechanical strength of the setup), it is possible to supply a greater energy to the working gas. Under otherwise equal conditions, the proposed method makes possible a significant decrease in the limiting gas pressure and can be used in divided-cylinder engines. |
