Description
Summary:The increasing deployment of smart devices using mobile networks is pushing operators to consider efficient ways to tailor their infrastructure to the Internet of Things (IoT) diverse requirements and traffic characteristics. A promising approach to address this need is the novel concept of network slicing, which aims at allocating portions of network resources to specific tenants, such as enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), IoT, e-health, connected vehicles, etc. While this has been traditionally done with long-term agreements between network operators and tenants as MVNOs, in this work we focus on a new business model where network operators offer network slices as a service (SlaaS). In particular, we propose a novel system comprising an IoT Broker managing massive IoT network slices services and a Network Slice Broker that through bi-directional negotiations are able to efficiently allocate and orchestrate network resources.
