Summary: | [...]it is currently applied in colonoscopy and endoscopy in general in the form of computer-aided diagnosis (CADe) and detection of different pathologies. [...]using AI in colonoscopy may have significance in the detection and eventual prognosis of CRC. [...]the performance of different CADx systems in colonoscopies was investigated in other clinical trials, which still found CADx to have high diagnostic performance in the characterization of polyps during colonoscopies [14–16]. A recent meta-analysis by Makar et al. of 28 randomized clinical trials (RCTs) showed that ADR and polyp detection rate (PDR) was significantly greater in the AI-aided group than in the group that underwent routine endoscopy [19]. Since colonoscopy is the gold standard for SSL diagnosis, SSLDR was developed, similar to ADR, to measure the quality of colonoscopy screening [26, 27]. |
