Description
Summary:Tendon transfers are a versatile surgical procedure for correcting deformities in and about the foot and ankle. The purpose of these procedures can include improving a lost function, strengthening a weakened or damaged tendon, and ultimately help produce a biomechanically stable foot and ankle. There have been various fixation types proposed for these tendon transfers including most commonly the use of bone anchors and interference screws. In this study, we present a novel technique for an inexpensive, technically simple, and convenient use of a non-proprietary external button for primary or secondary fixation of tendon transfers. We also report on a case series of patients who have undergone this technique.
