Summary: | The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the psychometric properties in a sample of Mexican men of Muscle Appearance Satisfaction Scale instrument (MASS; Mayville, Williamson, White, Netemeyer, & Drab, 2002), created for the purpose of assessing symptoms of muscle dysmorphia. The sample consisted of 477 male Mexican high school (n = 200) and university (n = 277) with an age range of 14-49 years (X ̅ = 19.5 SD = 3.60). The results show that the Mexican version has a total alpha of .91. Unlike the original scale had 5 factors, this version introduced a structure of four factors explaining 66.34% of the total variance, which were: 1) injury and muscular test (α = .90), 2) use substance (α = .83), 3) Unit to exercise (α = .80) and 4) muscle satisfaction (α = .77). It can be concluded that the MASS, where Mexican version, has good psychometric properties and is useful for assessing symptoms of Muscle dysmorphia (MD) in Mexican men.Key words: Factor Analysis; Muscle dysmorphia, MASS, Reliability, Validity.
