P09—Early Onset of Cardiomyopathy Demonstrated by Tissue Doppler Imaging in a Child With Fabry Disease

Introduction In adult Fabry disease (FD) patients, the cardiac involvement is characterized by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and valvular dysfunction with corresponding echocardiographic and ECG abnormalities. Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) is an accurate and sensitive method for identifying patients wh...

Description
Summary:Introduction In adult Fabry disease (FD) patients, the cardiac involvement is characterized by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and valvular dysfunction with corresponding echocardiographic and ECG abnormalities. Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) is an accurate and sensitive method for identifying patients who may develop hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, documenting early reduced myocardial contraction and relaxation velocities before and independent of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH).
