Antitumor Efficacy of the Combined Use of Gold Polyacrylate (Aurumacryl) and Radiation Therapy in an Experiment

The ability of gold polyacrylate (aurumacryl) to increase the sensitivity of murine tumor (В-16/F10 melanoma) to radiation treatment has been explored. Radiation therapy employed in combination with aurumacryl leads to a moderate but significant inhibition of tumor growth by 81–90%, compared to cont...

Description
Summary:The ability of gold polyacrylate (aurumacryl) to increase the sensitivity of murine tumor (В-16/F10 melanoma) to radiation treatment has been explored. Radiation therapy employed in combination with aurumacryl leads to a moderate but significant inhibition of tumor growth by 81–90%, compared to control, on day 32 after tumor grafting. The specific tumor growth rate decreases by a factor of 2.5 after the combined treatment and by 1.9 after radiation therapy alone. Combined treatment and radiation therapy alone extend the lifespan in mice with tumors almost equally, by 42 and 46%, respectively, compared to the control.
