Description
Summary:The nephroprotective activity of quercetin and its derivatives was revealed in an experimental model of ischemic acute renal failure (ARF) in white rats. Quercetin and rutin at a dose of 5 mg/kg with daily intragastric administration during development of ischemic ARF increased the excretory function of the kidneys (on average by 78%, p < 0.05) and the glomerular filtration rate (on average by 171%, p < 0.05) on the 3 rd day of the experiment. Quercetin also reduced urinary excretion of ã-glutamyltransferase (by 35%, p < 0.05). Rutin decreased urinary excretion of protein and lactate dehydrogenase (on average by 38%, p < 0.05). Dihydroquercetin and hyperoside under similar conditions of daily intragastric administration at a dose of 1 mg/kg increased renal excretory function (on average by 80%, p < 0.05) and glomerular filtration rate (on average by 232%, p < 0.05) and decreased urinary excretion of protein and lactate dehydrogenase (on average by 32%, p < 0.05). Data from pathomorphological studies of kidney preparations (3 days of experiment), intravital ultrasound examination of kidneys, and Doppler ultrasound examination of renal blood flow (7 days of experiment) also indicated positive effects of biologically active substances on the course of ARF. According to the results, the effectiveness of the studied substances increased in the order quercetin(rutin(hyperoside(dihydroquercetin.
