Summary:History of medicine always has interesting points to consider. Obesity-related diseases have been studied since ancient times. In the Middle Ages, various medical books have been written by Iranian physicians that have influenced later periods. Razi, a famous Iranian physician, describes a patient who has been treated with nutrition. •The first report of this relation dates back to the 9th century written by Ali-Ibn-Rabban Tabari in his book named Ferdos-Alhekmah (Paradise of wisdom).•Razi reported a case regarding the effects of obesity and disease.•Razi describes a man who suffers from obesity and gout and has improved with nutritional therapy.
