Description
Summary:This paper aims at answering the following question: “What has been the impact of the global ISI trend on the Romanian higher education, and how have Romanian universities understood and implemented it?” Furthermore, we analyse whether the ISI fever has led to an increase in the global visibility of published Romanian research. To this aim, we address both the system as a whole (at national level) and one individual university (Babeş-Bolyai University, BBU, selected because it is one of the biggest universities in the country as well as one of the top performing ones and also because of the availability of data). We will use a mixed-method approach based on a dialectic stance, as this framework will allow us to tackle our research question from three distinct perspectives (global, national and institutional).
