Description
Summary:We surveyed 393 infectious disease consultants for their views and practices regarding the potential association of Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis and Crohn disease. The majority thought an infectious etiology of Crohn disease was likely, 9% attempted to find an infectious etiology, 6% had been consulted on use of antimycobacterial agents for Crohn disease, and 3% had recommended treatment. Most infectious disease consultants identified histopathologic studies as the primary next step for research.
