Summary: | Iron Age: Iron‐promoted reactions of enyne oxiranes or acetate derivatives of 2‐en‐4‐yne alcohols with Grignard reagents produce (E)‐configured vinylallenes. The reaction cycle involves two successively formed organoiron intermediates: first, a π‐allyl iron intermediate forms. Then, the subsequent shift of the iron unit to the distal alkynyl carbon leads to a lower energy intermediate, σ‐allenyl iron complex.
