Description
Summary:In 2011, the introduction of the “accompaniment, care and home-care services” professional baccalaureate is an important innovation in the health and social/medical sector, where the BEP was a well-established benchmark. Embracing the term “care” in its title was a first for a diploma issued by the Ministry of National Education while wholly inscribing it into care. Based on pictures taken in four vocational schools and on interviews, this article explores how students, the vast majority of whom are girls, acquire knowledge aimed at vulnerable people. Though transmitted skills have an ambition of transversality, the reference system, the way the learning spaces are laid out, educational practices and the didactic artefacts set apart two target populations, where adult care looks more technical than that of children.
