Description
Summary:The article recalls a number of preconditions for knowledge of work. These include the ability to take stock of the socio-economic contexts that influence work itself, unlike subjectivities, which depend on available resources and adhere to objectives and/or seek to resist them - thereby substantiating the present narrative. The sociology of work covers a variety of work and employment-related sub-objects while integrating a multitude of theoretical influences. Far from sparking the crisis to which protagonists refer so often, this proliferation and abundance constitutes a strength that enables them to cope with the demands made by social and political actors. Between the identifiable shortcomings of the sociology of work (gender, ethnicity, technologies, internationalisation, etc.) and the scientific requirements of this discipline, there is space for a project that La Nouvelle Revue du Travail can convey - again, on condition that we witness a return to the kinds of scientific debates that have been absent on far too many occasions over the past 30 years.
