Description
Summary:The original lineup of the Allman Brothers Band (ABB) brought with them a diverse musical heritage that allowed the band to develop their own brand of blues-rock music. Their collective musical experiences reflected popular styles during the mid-to-late 1960s-R&B, blues (both Delta and urban), jazz, rock, country, and psychedelic. Despite a storied 45-year history, the specific musical building blocks of the ABB have received little attention. Close scrutiny of the ABB's music reveals their progressive musical tendencies-virtuosic solos, jazz-influenced tracks, harmonized guitar lines, and non-standard forms-that were just as important in shaping the band's idiolect.
