Description
Summary:Dynamic postural balance is very beneficial for the smooth running of daily activities and reduces the risk of falling. One of the factors that affect the body's postural balance is Body Mass Index (BMI). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of BMI to dynamic postural balance in Esa Unggul University (UEU) students. This research is a descriptive analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The total sample in this study was 46 UEU students taken by simple random sampling. BMI  is  calculated  as  weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters (kg/m2)  and  is  categorized  into three  groups: underweight (<18.5 kg/m2), normal (18.5-22.99 kg/m2 ), overweight and obesity (>23 kg/m2). Dynamic postural balance data was measured by Y-BT (Y-Balance Test). Hypothesis testing with one-way Anova test at =0.05 showed a significant p=0,001. So, the result of statistical analyses revealed that there seemed to be a tight effect between BMI and dynamic postural balance in students (p=0.001), especially on UEU students.
