Description
Summary:This study examines the symbols and trafics of transmitting information of the Skype messenger in order to identify the means and capabilities of Skype for creating communication channels using service symbols. The analysis of the means for constructing hidden channels, their features and methods of information transmission is carried out. Channels are created by manipulating Skype service symbols, in strict accordance with the Skype rules, without any interference with protocols and regulations. To create channels, indicators of color statuses are used-Skype status and graphical representations of users – avatars. Options of encoding alphabets using five-status and four-status symbols, as well as Morse code encoding, have been developed. Examples of the implementation of character encoding options are considered. An assessment of the required volumes and analysis of time parameters for data transmission of textual information is carried out. The analysis of the work of one Skype, with the same accounts, installed on two separated computers has been made. The proposed channels of information transmission can be used to create hidden channels that ensure the confidentiality of information and the impossibility of access by third parties.
