Description
Summary:To make the thermoluminescence (TL) dating method applicable for ancient iron manufacturing furnace, the authors reproduced an ancient style of iron manufacturing. The determination of age is an indispensable condition for the investigation into the beginning of iron manufacturing in Japan. We made the relation between the TL characteristics of quartz and the internal temperature of furnace wall. At the same time, we made the effect of second annealing temperature clear. As a result, we discovered the suitable layers and second annealing condition for TL dating, and we show the method of distinguishing the layers with their color easily.
