Summary: | To the Editor.—I was both amused and annoyed at an article in the MEDICAL NEWS section of The Journal (231:451, 1975) concerning the possible association of hepatic cell adenomas and oral contraceptives.In 1970 when I wrote the first paper on the subject, on the basis of three cases, I submitted it to The Journal for publication. It was rejected with a comment to the effect that the possible relationship was ridiculous and that possibly I should write up the case histories as interesting case reports and forget about the rest of the article.In 1973, after I had seen four more cases, I rewrote the article and submitted to Lancet; it was published in the Oct 27, 1973, issue.I am glad to see that editors of The Journal have finally recognized the possible significance of this problem.
