A workshop affiliated with ICSE 99 provided new advances in test methods and test technologies for the emerging class of distributed component-based systems that are built on basis of middleware softwares. The workshop discusses what efforts in software technology are research are required to practice testing of these systems in conjunction with a sufficient degree of test coverage. The workshop aims to provide a forum for exchange of information of these latest technologies.
