Preharvesting sprouting resistance of spring bread wheat carrying the 6Agi(6D) chromosome from Agropyron intermedium

A significant negative effect of the 6Ag i ( 6D ) chromosome from Agropyron intermedium on the resistance of spring bread wheat Triticum aestivum to preharvesting sprouting has been demonstrated in redgrain and white-grain recombinant inbred lines (F7–F10 and older) and in near isogenic lines. The r...

Description
Summary:A significant negative effect of the 6Ag i ( 6D ) chromosome from Agropyron intermedium on the resistance of spring bread wheat Triticum aestivum to preharvesting sprouting has been demonstrated in redgrain and white-grain recombinant inbred lines (F7–F10 and older) and in near isogenic lines. The resistance of various red-grain recombinant inbred lines carrying this chromosome to preharvesting sprouting has been shown to vary considerably, this presumably being due to the effects of genetic background. The mechanism of the negative effect of the 6Ag i ( 6D ) chromosome from Agropyron intermedium on the resistance of bread wheat to preharvesting sprouting remains unknown.
