Description
Summary:The reality of the sexual long cycle concerning Doliolum nationalis in Mediterranean waters off Villefranche (Ligurian Sea) is confirmed with the description of unknown stages for this particular species. A new type of gonophorozoïd is identified and the fecundity of the gonophorozoïd is proved by breeding the larva from the egg to its fully grown stage as an oozoïd, unknown until now. Its description shows us the total similarity between the oozoïds of different species of the Doliolum genus (cryptic species for this stage).
