Description
Summary:Examines the effect of the longer life expectancy of women on their quality of life. 3 cohorts of elderly (two-thirds being women) are analysed, with interviews in 1975 and in 1984 of those still surviving. The women generally experienced a lower quality of life in all indicators used. Assessment of changes over time reveals that ageing rather than cohort membership accounts for variation.
