Identification of vascular postsynaptic alpha sub(1)- and alpha sub(2)-adrenoceptors in man

The authors studied postsynaptic alpha -adrenoceptors in human blood vessels by measuring the influence on forearm blood flow induced by intra-arterial infusions of selective alpha sub(1)- and alpha sub(2)-adrenoceptor agonists (methoxamine, B-HT 933, clonidine and guanfacine) and antagonists (doxaz...

Description
Summary:The authors studied postsynaptic alpha -adrenoceptors in human blood vessels by measuring the influence on forearm blood flow induced by intra-arterial infusions of selective alpha sub(1)- and alpha sub(2)-adrenoceptor agonists (methoxamine, B-HT 933, clonidine and guanfacine) and antagonists (doxazosin and yohimbine). The findings provide strong evidence for the existence of postsynaptic alpha sub(1)- as well as alpha sub(2)-adrenoceptor, both mediating vasoconstriction and contributing to basal vascular tone.
