Description
Summary:This thesis details the Catholic feminist ideology and Christian humanist principles of Dr. Rosemary Radford Ruether. Through four decades of research, writing, and activism, Dr. Ruether addressed among many theological issues such as dualism, patriarchal power within Catholicism, papal infallibility, and the issue of reproductive freedom amongst Catholics through a feminist theological lens. Her work fits into an historical spectrum of feminist activism and liberal Catholicism inspired from Christian humanist ideals. This is Ruether's unique contribution to modern feminism; she has incorporated feminist ideals into Christian humanist thought and has successfully applied those ideals to the many social movements of which she has been a part throughout her life.
