Description
Summary:Any plasma containing charged dust grains is referred to as a dusty plasma. This is a work on dusty plasma. The Landau damping of ion acoustic waves was given by the plasma dispersion function. It is now modified here for turbulent and non-equilibrium dusty plasma. The same function is of interest in astrophysics. The modified mathematical function, but with different physical significance of the variables, can be used in other fields, such as in optics and nuclear physics. A FORTRAN computer code is presented in the appendix from which the modified plasma dispersion function can be computed. A study of low frequency, small amplitude ion acoustic waves in dusty plasma is presented. The equations derived here may be considered to be a variant form of Boussinesq equations. They are reduced to Korteweg-de Vries equations and their solitary wave solutions are given. A sixth power dispersion relation is solved exactly.
