Description
Summary:Winickoff et al describe a program designed to increase the use of smoking cessation services including the use of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in a Medicaid managed care organization. After asking standardized screening questions to the enrollees, results showed that there was a significant plan-wide increase in the rate of NRT prescription fills. Moreover, modest investment in a systems-level intervention led to a significant increase in the use of tobacco control medications in a Medicaid MCO.
