[...]these devices have proved they constitute a reliable alternative to manual CPR for ambulance or helicopter transport, reduce human resources and increase the safety of emergency medical team during the CPR. [...]these mechanical CPR devices are not harmless. Besides commonly traumatic changes described after manual CPR such rib fractures, fracture of the sternum or hematoma in the mediastina,1 some autopsy after mechanical resuscitation have shown an high frequency of vertebral fracture and a few cases of visceral injury.2 It was mainly the contusion of the heart and laceration of the lung but also carotid artery injury, ruptured liver or spleen.3 Conclusions: The mechanical resuscitation devices have proved their efficiency to return to spontaneous circulation.
