Description
Summary:Increased use of concrete in high-rise buildings has made these structures especially sensitive to delayed deformations due to concrete's natural tendency to creep and shrink. This is exacerbated in particularly tall buildings of hybrid construction, due to the different behavior of concrete and steel elements. In this paper, the authors present a software tool specifically developed to predict time-dependent behavior of high-rise buildings in both the construction and service stages. The specific features of the software are illustrated, and the results of a review and validation study are presented. Finally, the approach is applied to a real high-rise building currently under construction in Malaysia.
