Pluralismo lógico, normatividad y equilibrio reflexivo

In this paper, I try to find a way of dissolving the tension existing between logical pluralism and the normative status of logic. To do this, on the one hand, regarding the normative status of logic, I defend an externalist perspective of normativity as long as logic has a normative role for social practices of rational interaction. On the other hand, regarding the nature of logic, I argue that logic is the result of a process of reflective equilibrium; logical laws are obtained from a process of mutual adjustment and adaptation with argumentative practices. Therefore, different processes of reflective equilibrium give rise to different logical systems. I show that this externalist characterization of the normativity of logic in conjunction with the thesis of reflective equilibrium enables to defend a version of logical pluralism that doesn’t enter into conflict with the normativity.
En este artículo, procuramos encontrar un terreno de disolución de la tensión existente entre el pluralismo lógico y el carácter normativo de la lógica. Para esto, por un lado, con respecto al estatus normativo de la lógica, defendemos una perspectiva externista sobre la normatividad, en tanto sostenemos que la lógica tiene un rol normativo para las prácticas sociales de interacción racional. Por otro lado, con respecto a la naturaleza de la lógica, argumentamos que la lógica es el resultado de un proceso de equilibrio reflexivo, en tanto sus leyes se obtienen a partir de establecer ajustes y acuerdos mutuos con las prácticas inferenciales de los agentes. Así, diferentes procesos de equilibrio reflexivo generan diferentes sistemas lógicos. Mostramos que esta caracterización externista de la normatividad, en conjunción con la tesis del equilibrio reflexivo, permite defender una tesis pluralista de la lógica que no entra en conflicto con la normatividad.
