Description
Summary:This paper presents a new technique for high impedance fault detection classification and location in distribution systems using PMUs, in which a proper allocation of PMUs to determine protection zones is proposed. The fault detection and classification methodology uses a reduced number of PMUs and the fault location process is solved using a Artificial Neural Network technique. The 15 bus test system was used to test the technique and the results presented show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
