Description
Summary:Imaging biomarkers play an increasingly important role in the detection, characterisation and treatment of various diseases. In this report, new prostate cancer imaging biomarkers have been developed for the first time using super resolution ultrasound imaging, a recently developed technique that can achieve greater resolutions than conventional ultrasound. These newly developed biomarkers have then been applied to a development cohort of seven patients with confirmed prostate cancer. Distinct spatial and temporal features in these biomarkers have been identified in regions corresponding to the tumours. They include higher blood flow speed and flow heterogeneity, which agrees with the related clinical literature. The results demonstrate the potential of this approach to assist in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. 1
