Abstract Almond is one of the most important nut crops in Iran and the world. Its kernel is very nutritious. Almond production faces some difficulties, one of these is self-incompatibility. In this work, we crossed some superior self-incompatible Iranian almond cultivars (female parents) with some self-compatible cultivars consisting of Tuono and Supernova (male parents). Progenies were tested by simple PCR method when they were very young. For simple PCR, SfF-SfR primers were used. Self-compatible progenies produced specific band of 450bp. However, no such band was produced in self-incompatible progenies. The ratio of S-allele genotypes in the population was according to Mendelian rule.
