Summary: | Engagement in MOOCs is based on students who self-organize their participation according to their goals and interests. Visual materials such as videos and students' use of discussion forums are basic ways of engaging students in MOOCs. Using logit regression models we present the degree to which student engagement with MOOC videos and forum posts can predict course completion. We also explore the extent to which students' intention to receive the course certification and their participation behaviors can predict their achievement. Findings indicated the pedagogical hypothesis, which shows that students' engagement in forums and with videos affects their course completion rate, and recommendations are made for MOOC's designers and facilitators regarding the importance of students' engagement with MOOCs.
