Summary:The goal of this study is to formulate issues of mathematics teaching  in schools of remote area of West Java via Gerakan STKIP Siliwangi Mengajar (GSSM). The issues then take a role as  research material for mathematics education experts and researchers for generating a research to find the root of issues  of  mathematics teaching in school. The study is organized in Lesson Study Activities that involves 6 university lecturers and 35 last grade of undergradute students of mathematics education. The Lesson Study Activities take place  in 6 remote areas of West Java for implementing various mathematics teaching  in primary and secondary school levels for three months. The study revealed findings of some issues of mathematics teaching in those area. Those findings are: a)  low students’  grade on mastering basic mathematics  concepts, b)  low teachers’ grades  on mastering various innovative mathematics teaching; c) limited hardware and software of  teaching fasilities, d) unsupported  society situation and condition, and e)   students’ troubling traits. More over, via GSSM activities the study also finds various mahematics teaching issues such as teacher’s difficulties to  explore students’ creativity, to  provide opportunity to students for sharing their ideas and opinions between  students and their counselors and to develop relevant students’ character either as personal or  as student teacher’s competencies.
