Description
Summary:The article is devoted to identifying the compliance of the level of physical fitness of first-year students with the requirements of this category of students in high school on the basis of monitoring using diagnostic tools that objectively assess the degree of physical and mental health and overall physical fitness in general. Based on the analysis of the results of longitudinal monitoring of physical fitness of first-year students, which made it possible to predict the state of further development of the studied physical qualities, we developed recommendations for planning the educational process to increase the level of physical fitness of students in physical education classes. Systematic monitoring of physical fitness of first-year students allows for timely adjustments to the content of physical education and sport classes, to form a value-motivational attitude to fitness and health activities and to a healthy lifestyle, to increase students' cognitive and educational interest not only in classes, but also exercise with increased psychological and volitional tensions, develop readiness for independent physical exercise. Such an approach to physical culture and sports in higher education makes it possible to use more physical training facilities, sports and outdoor games, games that are not standard for the system of physical exercises, as well as an in-line and circular method of exercise. The indicators on various sports achievements of students are brought in line with the averaged standards, which contradicts the personality-oriented approach and does not contribute to the formation of students' value attitude to physical culture and sports. This suggests that it is necessary in all non-physical faculties to create conditions under which students will develop a need for physical education, a value attitude to a healthy lifestyle. The article proves the thesis that before the teacher starts activity on the formation of motivation, it is necessary to monitor the level of physical fitness of students, which will allow to find out the reasons why students do not want to engage in physical culture.
