Summary: | The aim was to identify the most frequent dermatological pathologies in the neighborhood of Boa Esperança in the city of Sinop in the state of Mato Grosso, and to describe the clinical and demographic data of the persons affected. This is descriptive, quantitative, documental research, undertaken through the collection of data from the patients’ hospital records between August and September 2010. Of the 196 service users with a diagnosis of a dermatological disease, 107 (54.6%) were women and 55% children aged between 0 and 5 years of age. The most frequent pathologies were impetigo 14.3%; Varicella 11.7%; Scabies 8.2%; Contact dermatitis, 7.6% and Ringworm, 6.6%. A large proportion of these diseases are preventable through health education measures and basic sanitation. The nurse is in a privileged position in public health, being able to provide early diagnosis and prevention of dermatological pathologies by undertaking physical tests and providing health education measures |
