Abstract This article describes the experience of an outreach university action carried out by means of conversation circles that aimed to develop the awareness of technical high school students about the need to recognize manifestations of anxiety and the search for help. Another aim was to disseminate guidelines that help reduce anxiety in the school context. The activity was based on the outreach project Prevention of Risks and Diseases to Population Health. The facilitators involved in the activity were high school students from the third year of the Technical Nursing course under the supervision of teachers. The conversation circles allowed the observation of students´ point of view about anxiety, in particular the factors that trigger anxiety, in addition to providing moments for discussing guidelines for managing anxiety reactions. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi descrever a experiência de uma ação extensionista, executada por meio de rodas de conversa, que tinha como proposta sensibilizar alunos do ensino médio técnico quanto à necessidade de reconhecer manifestações de ansiedade e a procura de ajuda, assim como disseminar orientações que auxiliam na redução da ansiedade no contexto escolar. Essa atividade teve como referência o projeto de extensão “Prevenção de Riscos e Agravos à Saúde da População: contribuições para a Prática Assistencial no Nível Técnico em Enfermagem”. O trabalho contou com facilitadores compostos por alunos do terceiro ano médio técnico em Enfermagem, sob supervisão docente. As rodas de conversa permitiram a observação do ponto de vista dos alunos sobre a ansiedade, em especial os fatores desencadeantes de reações ansiosas, assim como foram momentos de discutir orientações sobre o manejo das reações ansiosas.
