Abstract | The purpose of this article is to share the results of an Outreach Project carried out in a Municipal School in Campos dos Goytacazes with 6th to 9th grade students during the 2013 school year. The project intended both to set up a library, as well as to analyze the type of relationship that students developed with reading. Data were generated through classroom observation, questionnaires and activities that stimulated reading. The results
show that reading cannot be considered the mere passive decoding of words, but an activity that needs to be stimulated by family and teachers through “reading models”, as well as students’ freedom and flexibility to choose the themes they want to read.
O objetivo deste artigo é compartilhar os resultados de um Projeto de Extensão realizado em uma Escola Municipal em Campos dos Goytacazes, com alunos do 6º ao 9º ano, durante o ano de 2013. O Projeto tinha a finalidade de, além de montar uma biblioteca, analisar o tipo de relacionamento que os alunos desenvolviam com a leitura. Os dados foram recolhidos através de observação em sala de aula, questionários e realização de atividades que estimulassem a leitura. Os resultados mostram que a leitura não pode ser considerada uma atitude passiva de decodificação de palavras, mas precisa ser estimulada pela família e pelos professores através de “modelos de leitura”, assim como pela liberdade e flexibilidade da escolha de temas. |
