Summary:We provide the first records of osteomyelitis in shell of nesting female turtles of Lepidochelys olivacea at La Escobilla Sanctuary, Mexico. Osteomyelitis is an infectious and inflammatory disease of the bone, characterized by necrosis and destruction of bone tissue. Until now, there no exist records of this infectious disease of bone in olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) in tropical waters.
