Summary: | From 4-7 December 1997 the 3rd International Workshop on Rainfall in Urban Areas took place in Pontresina, Switzerland. Forty-five participants from 20 countries around the world made it a success. Presentations and discussions represented a high scientific level without neglecting the practitioners point of view. In fact, future trends, such as coupling of models of different origins for rainfall forecasting, detailed spatial analysis of rainfall, methods for quality control of measured data, and aspects of climatic change were cornerstones of the workshop. In the following, the outcome of the sessions are briefly highlighted. |
